Family Secrets by Kat Nichols
RATING: 3.5/5
**We received an ARC of Family Secrets from the author in exchange for an honest review**
Kat Nichols writes with heart and enthusiasm. She has a talent for crafting magical (pun intended) stories which keep you wondering what is going to happen next. Family Secrets flows smoothly from when Sophia leaves her best friend Abby behind to being sent to Illinois to when she discovers her family’s secret, uncovering hidden twists along the way. The characters are well developed, and the story shows promise, however I thought it was slow to take off. And when it did, the story felt quite bland to me and the witchcraft (the sigils) didn’t seem all that believable to me.
This isn’t a terrible story, by far, it’s just not the story for me. We didn’t click. I’d still recommend this book though, because I think a lot readers will enjoy it.

Awakened (anthology) by Mica Rae Rossi, Julian, Michael C. Icofs, S.M. Rose, Tracey R. Deming, Jesse Johnson, Emma Payne, and Elisabeth Stephens.
RATING: 3/5
**We received a copy of Awakened in exchange for an honest review.** The stories in this anthology have the potential to be great, but they fell short for me. While they are unique and most of them well written, they just didn't live up to the expectations I had. I'm not saying Awakened is terrible. A lot of readers will like and love this collection of erotic stories, but it's just not for me. **Recommended for 18+ |

Pieces of Me by Carrigan Richards
RATING: 4/5
(Contains spoiler) I really liked this novel. The storyline was gripping enough to keep my attention. The characters were well rounded and complete, some I really liked, others I didn't like at all. I feel the author did a wonderful job expressing the emotions that would be felt during the types of experiences that are expressed. There is a great amount of detail. I feel there should be a note with the synopsis stating that the book contains scenes with suicide. I received my free copy of pieces of me for an honest review. Overall I would rate this book 4 stars. |
Hook by K.R. Thompson
RATING: 4/5
Hook is a great read!! I love reading stories that are a spin off what most people consider classic. When I was younger I wondered where Hook and his crew came from, the only adults in all of Neverland. . . With the grand ship and huge grudge. K.R. Thompson gave me an amazing answer to my question. I can not wait to read more of this series!!! |

The Boys Club by Angie Martin
RATING: 5/5
**We received an ARC of The Boys Club in exchange for an honest review** (Contains spoiler) WOW, that's where I'm starting. Let me tell you there is mystery, excitement, and thrill. I could NOT stop once I started this one. I found myself reading as if I were watching a movie. I could feel the emotions screaming off the pages. Every detail was just more food for the imagination. Its not overpowering its just the right amount of thrill to keep your heart racing. There are sparks that fly. I found myself holding my breath. I had to force myself not to skip words to find out what was happening next. This is definitely my first 5 star read of this new year! |
