Loyalty and Lies by L.A. Cotton
Rating: A-
(4.5 stars) (Spoilers Ahead) This is not your typical love story. Ana has lost everything. She's moved across the country to get away from the pain. How do you move on from tragedy? What do you do when you're left alone? Your parents, the love of your life? Ana moves away to go to school. For the last year she has mastered her fake smiles, learned to hold her emotions. That is until she meets Jackson. For the first time in months she finally feels herself relax. Ellena is a roommate like no other. She's hardcore, selfless, ruthless, but the best friend a girl could ask for. |
As Ana is taught the ins and outs of the school, she quickly learns The Fallen are not ones to be toyed with. They always get their way and they get what the want. The other girls throw themselves at the hot football players for even a chance at one of these guys. These guys are ruthless, crazy. But what makes them so special to this town, the town she thought she had moved to, to escape drama and chaos.
Is Jackson the one to finally heal her? Her true happiness? Can she finally love?
As Jackson and Ana quickly learn not everyone will approve of them together, they try to keep things quite and ignore the feelings, but the harder they try to stay away from each other the harder they want.
Is Jackson really who he says he is? Ana isn't the only one with a past and secrets. While I did LOVE this story, it is a cliff hanger. This one started out and I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out. I like to try to think ahead for what I 'think' is going to happen, this one wasn't so easy to do that. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen, I was proved wrong. Loyalty and Lies left me feeling hungover, and I LOVED it. I can't wait to read the next part.

The Summer Remains by Seth King
Rating: A+
(5 stars)
(Spoilers Ahead)
Let me just start by saying this one ALMOST left me speechless. After waiting, for what seemed like forever, and seeing all of these beautiful "snippets" from Seth, I was NOT disappointed.
I must say this is not the love story I expected. Don't get me wrong it is wonderful and powerful. This story is so full of emotion it screams at you from the pages. When reading this I could feel the author's emotion's and heart that he poured into this. The way he was able to incorporate his own life, pain, and heartache into this story is beautiful.
When Summer realizes her life has been altered, she realizes the one thing she wants more than anything is to feel love. Not just the love from family, but true love. When Summer and Cooper meet my heart was melting. Yet he looks beyond what he see's on the outside and see's Summer for who she truly is. My heart is ready to explode Summer is a strong independent woman, who chooses to live the life she has left, to it's fullest. I am truly in awe of her. Cooper is truly great, too. While he too has his baggage, he doesn't let anything stop him. The way he see's that everyone has a little Summer.
Once you get an insight of these characters it's truly amazing. This is one story I truly don't want to give anything away, so hopefully there are no spoilers here. The pure love these two have for each other is something people search their whole life for. While I did cry, like a baby, I smiled too. The courage it takes to continue your search for true happiness while knowing you're dying...courageous...
Thank you Seth for sharing this. Truly amazing. Thank you for sharing a bit of your brother with us. I'm sure he is smiling down on you, super proud.

Ghost of Demon's Past by Matt Schiariti
Rating: B+
(4 stars)
When this story starts out, I wasn't sure what I was getting myself in to. Once I was finally let into the world and mind of Seth Gabriel, this one began to change very quickly. We all have our school demons. Well Seth's are real.
Seth isn't your typical guy, he has "special gifts". He can talk with the dead, he sees them too. So now that he's grown, he's made a job of it as a "cleaner". He can't let anyone know. This "gift" has ruined his marriage. He's become an absolute drunk. Now between work, his son, the divorce, and his new "acquaintance", he is quickly spiraling out of control. Jamie is supposed to be his "go to girl", but deeper feelings are starting to develop.
A new client comes in, he thinks his wife is possessed by a demon. Only Seth doesn't deal with demons. He helps ghosts, yes there is a difference. Once the new client has Seth convinced, Seth visits his wife. He immediately notices her beauty, until her razor sharp teeth appear. Seth tries to cancel the job, but it's too late. Seth returns home to find a distraught Jamie in his bed. Why is she here? He quickly notices her beat and badly bruised face. She's been attacked while working the streets! After he thinks a day can't get worse...it can. One of his clients has been found dead. What is going on!? When they say some demons never die, it's true. When Amanda, the possessed wife, learns the Seth is trying to rid of her. She is NOT happy.
Seth returns home one night from an errand to find that Jamie has been kidnapped. In order to get her back he has to get to her. What do you do when you're forced to come face to face with your demons?
I'm not one for spoilers so, you won't get all of the details from me. As I said I wasn't sure what I was getting in to when I started reading this. I wasn't even sure that i wanted to. Yet, when things picked up, boy did they take off. My heart was racing with excitement and nervousness. It's truly a thrill read. Very happy I read this one.

Great job! I was completely sucked in to this story by the end of the first chapter! The storyline was way different than anything I have read before. I think Helen did a great job of making it imaginable!
All I can say is what a cliffhanger! I had accepted the future as the characters had foreseen it.... WOW! I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book!!

What a book!! Not just another dystopian story. I really got in to the characters, their stories just seemed to drive onward. Can't wait to read more, excited to see where Amy takes this series! (What is up with the wolf/ Dogs?!?! So many possibilities!!)

Orion's Curse (Andromeda #2) by Amy Bartelloni
Rating: B+

Totally enjoyed the vibe of this book. I felt like it was behind the scenes, with the main stars of the story. I do have to admit that I did get a little confused with all the characters and their part in the story. (I feel it was my head colds fault not the author's). The story moved at a good pace, few twists I had no clue that were coming!
(Not really any more information on the wolf/dogs. Maybe in the third book?)
